The analysis of observation data can occur online, which is necessary for the live visualization, and offline in a post-mortem or offline analysis. A post-mortem analysis of runtime information is used by developers to support their understanding of runtime properties of their software system. Such analysis combines static information of code and models with dynamic runtime information comprising execution traces, user behavior, workloads and other observed properties of the software system.
In contrast to an offline analysis, the online analysis provide the necessary information for the live visualization used by operators.
